Wreaths Across America @ Kansas Veterans' Cemetery

The Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley-Manhattan will participate in the annual Wreaths Across America program with a ceremony on Saturday, December 16th at 11:00 am.  Family, friends and the public are cordially invited to attend this ceremony.  Please dress warm as the Committal Shelter is not heated and some attending will either be sitting or standing outside the Committal Shelter.

Book Discussion Group @ Senior Service Group

The Manhattan Book Discussion Group and the VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) Support Group will meet on Tuesday, December 19th at the Senior Center.  This will be the holiday party and the two groups will be combined for this occasion.  There will be a short discussion of this month’s book “Flight of the Sparrow: a Novel of Early America” by Amy Belding.  Some of the members will bring treats to share.  Please join them between 1:00 – 3:00 pm for this festive gathering.  Any questions, please contact Kathy at 539-1973.

Community Dinner @ Peace Lutheran Church

Contra Dance New Year’s Eve @ Peace Memorial Hall

There will be a New Year’s Eve contra dance at Peace Memorial Hall from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am.  Caller will be Kate McBride from Omaha.  Live music by the New Year’s Eve House Band.  No need to bring a partner.  Wear comfortable shoes.  Snacks at the break.  Brunch and music jam on New Year’s Day.

First Day Hikes @ Tuttle Creek State Park

Start 2018 in the outdoors on a guided tour at Tuttle Creek State Park!  This event will be held on January 1st from 10:30 am to 12 Noon.  Departs from the State Park Office, 5800 A River Pond Road.  The bird-watching hikes are on mostly smooth terrain with a short or long route to choose from.  Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.  Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes.  Bring binoculars, spotting scopes, camera and bird ID guide.  Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.  This is a free event but a state park vehicle permit is required.  You can purchase a one-day pass on site for $5.00.  Questions?  Call 785-539-7941.

Red Cross Blood Drive @ HyVee

Walking the Heartland Support Group Meeting @ University Christian Church
