Time travel back to the 1880’s with the Riley County Historical Society and Museum in a three part series beginning Thursday, January 18th at the Manhattan Public Library from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The series looks back at Riley County and Manhattan during the pivotal period of the 1880’s exploring finances, fashion, fads, foods as well as residents, famous and infamous. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.
The Walking the Heartland Support Group will be meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 5:00 pm at 2800 Claflin Road. If you are a heart patient or a caregiver for a heart patient, come to our support group meeting to network work others who have experienced this life changing event.
The Riley County Historical Society will hold its quarterly dinner and program meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at the Manhattan Headquarters Fire Station. The dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. The cost of the dinner is $11.00. Reservations are required for the dinner by January 17th, by calling 785-565-6490. Chuck Tannehill will present “An Early History of the Volunteer Period of the Manhattan Fire Department” around 7:17 pm in the auditorium. No reservations are required for the program part of the evening.
Coffee Shop Agronomy will be held on February 22nd at Nelson’s Landing in Leonardville. This event will be from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. The program will be Pollinator Plants and the speaker will be Gregg Eyestone, Riley County Extension Horticulture Agent.
