The Manhattan Book Discussion Group and the VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) Support Group will meet on Tuesday, December 19th at the Senior Center. This will be the holiday party and the two groups will be combined for this occasion. There will be a short discussion of this month’s book “Flight of the Sparrow: a Novel of Early America” by Amy Belding. Some of the members will bring treats to share. There will be a New Year’s Eve contra dance at Peace Memorial Hall from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am. Caller will be Kate McBride from Omaha. Live music by the New Year’s Eve House Band. No need to bring a partner. Wear comfortable shoes. Snacks at the break. Brunch and music jam on New Year’s Day.
Start 2018 in the outdoors on a guided tour at Tuttle Creek State Park! This event will be held on January 1st from 10:30 am to 12 Noon. Departs from the State Park Office, 5800 A River Pond Road. The bird-watching hikes are on mostly smooth terrain with a short or long route to choose from. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. Wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring binoculars, spotting scopes, camera and bird ID guide. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. This is a free event but a state park vehicle permit is required. The Walking the Heartland Support Group will be meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 5:00 pm at 2800 Claflin Road. If you are a heart patient or a caregiver for a heart patient, come to our support group meeting to network work others who have experienced this life changing event.
