A Junction City man accused in a March double murder was arraigned this week in Geary County District Court.

Online court records show 33-year-old Steven Pierce pleaded guilty on June 9 to two charges of first-degree murder, pursuant to a plea agreement. A sentencing hearing has been deferred to a later date. A status hearing is scheduled for July 13.

Pierce is charged with the murders of 75-year-old Valerie Krissman and her husband, 80-year-old Roland Krissman. The couple was found dead March 18.

Pierce and a co-defendant, 29-year-old Kallie Peters fled to Michigan, where they were apprehended a day later and then extradited to face charges.

Peters, who is also charged with two counts of first-degree murder, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 29 and 30.
