A Topeka man was in Riley County District Court Monday for sentencing after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges.

22-year-old Ronald Saunders received probation from Judge Kendra Lewison after entering a plea agreement and subsequently being found guilty in June on six counts of domestic violence and interference with law enforcement charges. The charges stem from a September 2022 incident against an 18 year old victim.

Saunders was required to enroll in the Domestic Batterer’s program and will be able to have his fines waived by the court if he successfully completes the course.

On Monday, Saunders thanked Judge Lewison and the court for the opportunity to plea and to turn his life around as he has a child on the way.

Lewison told Saunders that despite his lengthy criminal history, he is still young enough to get his life turned around and be able to move past this incident going forward.
