Manhattan City Commissioners unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance amending the McCall Road Landing Planned Development Unit to allow for construction of a new Culver’s restaurant.

The restaurant, which will provide both dine-in and drive-through services, will reside at the corner of McCall Road and McCullough Place, south of Menard’s.

A project timeline was not provided.

Additionally, the board approved USD 383’s request to relieve an island landscaping requirement set forth in the Manhattan Development Code for the Bluemont Elementary School parking lot. The district cited concerns that the required landscaping would interfere with drop-off and pick-up flow, delivery operations, and snow removal.

The Riley County Health Department also received approval from the commission to install a new digital sign at the intersection of Claflin and Wharton Manor Roads.
