      0301-Crowd chants

Members of the Manhattan community came together Tuesday night to show support for the Ukrainian people during the ongoing conflict with Russia.
A candlelit vigil and prayer were held at triangle park.  Olga Volok, one of the event organizers, is originally from Ukraine and has been living in Manhattan since 1996.  She says the purpose of the vigil and march is to show solidarity with Ukraine.

Volok was surprised at the sizable crowd gathered to show their support for the Ukrainian people.  The vigil began with a speech from Volok and other Ukrainian immigrants in Manhattan, as well as some Ukrainian students. Volok says the supporting messages from the community have been helpful.

Nadia Shapkina, another of the event coordinators, read a letter addressed to the people of Ukraine. The letter commends the Ukrainian people for their unbreakable spirit.
