Pottawatomie County Commissioners will move forward on exploring potential designs of Excel and Harvest Roads to accommodate future growth in the Blue Township area.
The decision follows a decision last week approving a resolution tied to a zoning change within the Willow Glen subdivision — to allow for development of more duplexes and four-plexes. Commissioner Dee McKee has advocated for extending the pavement from Excel Road to Harvest and east to Lake Elbo Road.
The Planning Commission has requested the Board of County Commissioners enact a one year moratorium on new preliminary plats and rezonings within the Blue Township area. County Planner Stephan Metzger says the Planning Commission believes the current infrastructure isn’t adequate to accommodate future growth.
Metzger encouraged commissioners Monday to review the Unified Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan to see if their priorities align with the two plans.
