To reduce issues of stress and anxiety within the jail, police are using alternate methods including outdoor time, music, and nicotine products for those who need them.

Riley County Jail Commander Captain Mark French says that these alternate methods are working, and inmates are responding to them.

French stresses that it is important to know that approximately 80% of all jail inmates are awaiting trial, and have not been found guilty of any crime.
