The Riley County Law Board will consider the 2024 Riley County Police Department budget for publication when it meets today.

Agenda materials show two proposed budgets to be considered — including a $27.2 million budget, with base changes, an 8 percent COLA and the remaining 50 percent of a salary survey implemented last year as a two-year phased increase. The other proposal is a $26.9 million budget that reduces the COLA to 6.5 percent, though board members could opt to push the cost of living adjustment to a lower figure. The Law Board has until June 10 to publish a proposed budget, with a public hearing and formal adoption by June 20.

The Law Board also today will discuss city funding for mental health co-responders, a bulletproof vest partnership grant and its Genesis Health Clubs corporate partnership program.

The meeting begins at noon in City Hall.
