The Riley County Health Department says its identified 15 new COVID-19 cases and eight additional recoveries in the past week.

The latest report out Wednesday showed health officials are aware of 18 known active COVID-19 cases in the county. Manhattan’s Ascension Via Christi Hospital had no COVID positive patients in the hospital, as trends continue to stabilize locally. At the national level, the CDC extended the Biden administration’s mask mandate for transportation an additional two weeks, due to a slight uptick in cases of an Omicron subvariant. Instead of expiring on Monday, masks are required in airports and buses through May 3rd.

Free COVID tests are available still Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3019 Anderson Ave. through the end of April. Vaccines are available at the Riley County Health Department at 2030 Tecumseh Road with or without an appointment.
