On Monday, Pottawatomie County Commissioners set the date for an August hearing regarding the 2024 budget and revenue neutral rate.

Before giving their approval, commissioners heard an update from Assistant County Administrator and Finance Office Heather Gladbach on where the budget’s general fund currently stands

With the .779 decrease from 2023, the county’s proposed general fund mill levy sits at 28.874

Also included in the proposed budget is a 5% COLA, a doubling of the deferred compensation employer match and a $200,000 maximum decrease annually in employee insurance premiums.

The proposed budget is subject to change but cannot exceed the published amount. The county will hold the public hearing on August 28th at 10 a.m.

Also on Monday, commissioners approved a resolution to included a quarter-percent sales tax to fund road and bridge improvements on the ballots this November.
